Roofing and cladding solutions that combine lightweight rigid insulation,
a gypsum fire barrier, a durable protective membrane, and thin-film photovoltaic membrane.
Facade or roof systems can be added after the building is constructed - usually integrated into the south facade.
Facade integrated and Roof-integrated photovoltaic systems are built in to the property at construction
Shadow-Voltaic - PV systems, also used as shadowing systems, are either built in to the property or can be added later.
Best results and efficiency are achieved with systems which are tightly integrated into the passive building.
The use of active solar systems (where the modules are partially transmitting, allowing natural light to penetrate the building)
can be used in new projects and also incorporated as a sustainable alternative during refurbishment to older buildings
Undoubtedly, such systems challenge even the best of architects,
as poorly designed systems -that have to be redesigned or repaired at a later date- will swell maintenance costs. However, well designed
